Inspired by Jean Reno’s portrayal of Léon in Luc Besson’s 1994 film Léon: The Professional, L E O N is an original contemporary portrait exploring isolation, restraint and the humanity concealed beneath a hardened exterior.
Created in acrylic and spray paint across individual ash blocks, the portrait is physically fragmented into a shifting grid. Some blocks project beyond others, disrupting the surface and giving the artwork a sculptural quality that changes with the light and viewing angle.
Raw brushwork, sprayed colour and exposed marks break through the muted skin tones. Deep blacks, bruised reds and flashes of turquoise capture Léon’s guarded intensity, while the fractured construction reflects the contradictions at the heart of the character: ruthless yet vulnerable, detached yet fiercely protective.
This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, not a print or reproduction.
Original hand-painted artwork
Acrylic and spray paint on ash blocks
Approximately 26 × 21 inches / 66 × 53 cm
Textured, multidimensional surface
One of a kind
Price: £699
Created as companion portraits, the two works explore the unlikely connection at the centre of the film—two isolated people finding loyalty, protection and a sense of family in one another.
A powerful statement piece for collectors of contemporary portraiture, film-inspired art and raw, countercultural work.
